Fotona Medium Peel – Ablative

A medium-depth peel using an Erbium:YAG laser is a less aggressive resurfacing treatment than a deep peel, targeting the upper layers of the dermis to improve skin texture and tone. It is suitable for treating moderate wrinkles, pigmentation issues, and mild scars with shorter downtime compared to a deep peel. Here’s a detailed explanation:

Service Description

What is a Medium-Depth Erbium:YAG Laser Peel?

  • Medium-depth treatment: The laser removes the epidermis and reaches into the upper dermis (but not as deep as a full ablative peel).

  • Erbium:YAG Laser (2940 nm): Known for its precision, it removes damaged skin layers with minimal heat transfer to surrounding tissues, ensuring faster healing compared to other ablative lasers like CO₂.

Procedure Details

  1. Preparation:

    • Skin is cleansed, and a topical anesthetic is applied to reduce discomfort.

    • Pretreatment skincare (e.g., retinoids or hydroquinone) may be recommended for several weeks prior to the procedure.

  2. Treatment:

    • The laser is applied in a controlled manner to target the middle layers of the skin.

    • The Erbium:YAG laser gently vaporizes damaged skin, stimulating collagen production and revealing smoother, rejuvenated skin.

  3. Duration:

    • A medium peel session usually takes 30–45 minutes for a full-face treatment.

  4. Post-Treatment:

    • Skin will be red and swollen immediately after the procedure, with some peeling or flaking as the skin heals.

Benefits

  • Improves Moderate Imperfections: Treats fine to moderate wrinkles, acne scars, and uneven pigmentation.

  • Evens Skin Tone: Addresses age spots, sun damage, and other discoloration.

  • Stimulates Collagen: Encourages the production of collagen for firmer, more youthful skin.

  • Reduced Downtime: Compared to a deep Erbium:YAG peel, healing is faster, and side effects are milder.

  • Customizable Intensity: Can be adjusted to suit the patient’s skin type and concerns.

Ideal Candidates

Medium-depth Erbium:YAG peels are suitable for:

  • Individuals with moderate sun damage, fine lines, or mild-to-moderate acne scars.

  • Those with pigmentation issues, such as melasma or uneven skin tone.

  • Patients with fair to medium skin tones (as darker skin tones may require extra care to avoid hyperpigmentation).

  • Individuals seeking noticeable improvement without the extensive downtime of a deep peel.

Not recommended for:

  • Patients with active infections or open wounds.

  • Individuals with a history of keloid formation or poor wound healing.

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals.

  • Those who cannot adhere to post-treatment care protocols (e.g., avoiding sun exposure).

Downtime

  • Immediate Effects: Redness, mild swelling, and peeling for 5–7 days.

  • Healing Time:

    • Skin typically heals within 7–10 days.

    • Residual redness may persist for a few weeks but can be easily covered with makeup.

  • Comfort: Mild discomfort or tightness is common but manageable with post-procedure skincare.

Comparison to Deep Peel

  • Less Invasive: Targets only the upper dermis, so recovery is faster.

  • Shorter Downtime: About 1–2 weeks versus 2–4 weeks for a deep peel.

  • Moderate Results: Improves texture and tone but may not fully resolve deep wrinkles or scars.

A medium-depth Erbium:YAG peel offers a balance between results and downtime, making it an excellent choice for individuals who want noticeable skin improvement without committing to the longer recovery period of a deep peel.

  • If any crusting or scabbing occurs, use Occlusiderm more often. Do not let your skin dry out. Dryness causes pulling on the new skin underneath, which may cause red, irritated areas. Apply your moisturizer gently – Do not rub it in hard. This should reduce tightness and make you more comfortable.
  • Do not worry if all of the ointment/moisturizer doesn’t come off when you wash; it won’t harm your face to leave some on. Do not pick or rub your skin! Your dark old skin (which will peel off) initially serves as a protective bandage, which protects the fresh new skin underneath.
  • It is important that you try to sleep on your back to avoid rubbing the skin off your chin or check area prematurely.
  • If you have any unexpected irritation or possible infection, call the 0460778605 immediately. This is especially important if you are developing crusted yellowish areas appear on your face.
  • You must not pick or rub your skin.
  • Do not go out in the sun at all while crusting or peeling – even for 5 minutes. After the laser treatment, wear sunscreen daily. Use a Covid Mask to Cover up
  • Do not use any other creams or ointments (such as bleaching creams, Retin-A, or glycolic acid) until or if you instructed by us or a professional.
  • Tip: After 4 days stand longer in the shower and let the steam loosing the scabs or peeling. With pressure use your palms or finger tips and rub slowly and hard, you should start to feel skin crumbs fall off
