Keloid Scar

Keloid scars are a type of thick, raised scar that forms when the body produces excess collagen during the healing process after an injury, surgery, or skin trauma. Unlike regular scars that remain flat, keloids grow beyond the original wound and can sometimes become large and irregular.

How Can Fotona Erbium YAG Laser Treat Keloid Scars?

Fotona Erbium YAG Laser is a non-invasive and effective treatment option for managing and reducing the appearance of keloid scars. The laser works by targeting the scar tissue with highly focused energy to break down the excess collagen and promote healthy skin regeneration. Here’s how it helps:

1. Laser Mechanism:

  • Erbium YAG Laser: The Erbium YAG laser is known for its precision and ability to target the outermost layer of the skin without causing significant damage to surrounding tissues. The laser energy gently exfoliates and removes the top layer of the keloid scar, helping to smooth out the texture.

  • Collagen Remodeling: The laser stimulates the skin’s natural healing process by promoting collagen remodeling. This helps break down the excess collagen that causes the raised, thickened scar. Over time, the skin will become smoother, flatter, and more even in texture.

  • Targeted Treatment: The Fotona Erbium YAG laser can be precisely applied to the keloid, offering a controlled approach that reduces the risk of further scar formation and minimizes damage to surrounding healthy skin.

2. Treatment Process:

  • Preparation: The area around the keloid scar will be cleansed, and a topical numbing cream may be applied to ensure comfort during the procedure.

  • Laser Application: The Fotona Erbium YAG laser is then directed onto the keloid scar. The laser energy vaporizes the scar tissue, reducing its size and gradually improving its appearance.

  • Duration: The treatment typically lasts anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the size and number of keloid scars being treated.

3. Post-Treatment Care:

  • After treatment, patients may experience mild redness, swelling, or discomfort in the treated area. These side effects usually subside within a few hours to a few days.

  • Patients are advised to avoid direct sun exposure and follow proper skincare instructions to promote healing and prevent irritation.

4. Results:

  • Gradual Improvement: While some improvement can be seen after just one session, it typically takes a series of treatments (usually 3 to 6 sessions) spaced a few weeks apart for optimal results.

  • Long-Lasting: Once the keloid has been treated with the Fotona Erbium YAG laser, the results are often permanent, though it’s important to follow aftercare guidelines to prevent recurrence.

  • Flatter and Smoother Appearance: Over time, the keloid becomes flatter, less raised, and closer to the surrounding skin tone, which significantly reduces its visibility.

Benefits of Fotona Erbium YAG Laser for Keloid Scars:

  • Non-invasive: No surgical procedures or incisions are required.

  • Precise Treatment: The laser can be carefully targeted to minimize damage to surrounding tissue.

  • Effective and Safe: Fotona’s technology is designed for skin regeneration and scar reduction with minimal side effects.

  • Minimal Downtime: Most patients experience little to no downtime after treatment.

  • Improved Skin Texture: In addition to reducing the size of the keloid, the treatment helps smooth the texture of the scar and improve overall skin appearance.

Apply your moisturizer gently – Do not rub it in hard. This should reduce tightness and make you more comfortable.
  • Do not worry if all of the ointment/moisturizer doesn’t come off when you wash; it won’t harm your face to leave some on. Do not pick or rub your skin! Your dark old skin (which will peel off) initially serves as a protective bandage, which protects the fresh new skin underneath.
  • It is important that you try to sleep on your back to avoid rubbing the skin off your chin or check area prematurely.
  • If you have any unexpected irritation or possible infection, call the 0460778605 immediately. This is especially important if you are developing crusted yellowish areas appear on your face.
